Old Louisville Hunt!

Check out the Old Louisville Hunt website if you live in Louisville. It is promoting the restaurants and other businesses in Old Louisville by offering coupons and prizes. I've already been to all the websites to try to win the Grand Prize and I used the coupon for Carly Rae's last night!

Thrifty Chicks!

New frugal discovery to share - are you ready???? Thrifting! I've been to thrift stores before, but never thought before about going on a regular basis to find items I'd normally buy elsewhere. The Thrifty Chicks have a great blog that explains it. To make it even better, thrifting is environmentally friendly! Love it!

The blog inspired me to go thrifting today while DS was in preschool. I left with a pair of like new black flat shoes for my sister for $3.00, (she's been making me look with her for an affordable pair for at least a month now) an adorable little flatware tray that I'm going to repaint and repurpose for $2.50, and a super cute jean newborn dress from Baby Gap for $1.50. Nothing really fancy, but I'm pretty pleased. I'm going to try thrifting for a while and promise to share my finds.

What do you think about thrifting? Leave a comment!

A Few Wal-mart Freebies and Cheapies

Thanks to the "Cents" able Sawyer I found a few awesome deals at Wal-mart. I haven't been doing my grocery shopping there, but I figured since I was going along with my sister, I might as well see if there were any deals to be had. Here's how I did:

Hint: to print the coupons twice, click back on your screen and refresh it.

4 Small boxes of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda $0.46 each
used 2 $1/2 coupons print here (-$0.16 overage)

2 Small boxes of SeaPak Shrimp Poppers $1.32 each
used 2 $1/1 coupons print here ($0.32 each)

Quaker Rice Cake Snacks $1.37
used $1/1 coupon from 1/18/09 newspaper insert ($0.37)

Donut $0.58 (not a deal, just a pregnancy craving!)

Subtotal before coupons: $6.43
Total OOP: $1.43 ($5.00 or 78% savings)
----------------------------------------------------
I don't have pets, but if you do. Here's a great deal my sister got.

Walmart sells a bag of Purina Cat Food for $4.18 and you can click here for a $4 off Purina Cat or Dog Food coupon. That made the cat food $0.18 each! She printed two coupons. Bonus: they say they give $1 of your purchase to a pet rescue!
---------------------------------------------
I'll be Krogering Tuesday morning, if my doctor's appt. goes quick. I'll post my deals after that! Check out Southern Savers to plan your trip this week!

Keeping Your Car Healthy

I just got an e-mail from Never2Late2Save and she had some great links to coupons for your car. Now while I am the luckiest girl in the world with a mechanic for a husband and I don't need these, I figured I would share for the benefit of others!

Click here to see the links. Did this help you?

Freebies and Good Deals-redbox code updated

First, a freebie for tomorrow, thanks to Money Saving Mom. Denny's is giving away FREE Grandslam breakfasts tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. I suggest you call ahead to your Denny's to double check they are participating!

Second, Monday is always FREE Redbox rental day. The code for today, Monday, February 2, 2009 is D9P24G. It can only be used by midnight tonight. Don't forget to return the movie by 9 p.m. tomorrow so you won't be charged.

Third, I know there are a lot of people out there who do not go to McDonalds. However, for those of us with kiddos who have to go to McDonald's (especially those with a playland) to stay sane, you can buy a book of 12 coupons for $1 from participating McDonalds. I found mine at the McDonald's on Bardstown Rd. near Mid-City Mall. It has coupons good for free burgers, apple dippers, cones, milk, etc...perfect for the kiddos!

Click here to get a coupon for Buy One Get One FREE small spaghetti from Fazoli's. Update: Graham and I just got back from using this coupon. He loves the free breadsticks!

Please leave me a comment and let me know if you plan to use any of these deals or what happened when you did!

Save-A-Lot 2/1

I found a couple of cheap items at Save-a-lot. Eggs were only $.75 and apple pie filling was only $1.29 (I use this for porkchops in the crockpot and it's expensive at Kroger!).

The best deals were the produce that was getting close to it's best buy date. The bananas were only $.50; I plan to use them to make banana bread. The red peppers were only $2.19; I plan to dice and freeze them.

It's funny how now that I have a frugal mindset I look at things differently! I hope you will too!
